Fort Group Chartered Professional Accountants is a dynamic and growing accounting firm in Winnipeg that is currently seeking a Controller to join their team for 30 to 37.5 hours per week. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and a corporate benefits plan is available.


This individual reports directly to the Partners of the firm and is responsible for the efficient and effective day to day operations of the corporate accounting department which entails performing the accounting for multiple related companies. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

• Overall cash management
• Overseeing of accounts payable
• Reconciling of accounts receivable and work-in-process to billing software
• Month end closing procedures
• Monthly reconciliation of bank and intercompany accounts
• Payroll processing
• GST, PST and payroll tax filings
• Generation and dissemination of the internal monthly Financial Statements and external monthly reporting requirements
• Monthly financial analysis, evaluation and investigation of actual financial results compared to budget
• Ad-hoc financial analysis as requested by the Partners
• Preparation of year-end financial statements


• Professional accounting designation or accountant with relevant experience
• Professional services and property accounting experience an asset
• Action-oriented, results driven with the ability to work in a team and fast-paced environment
• Excellent mathematical and financial skills, and experience in Excel
• Exceptional priority setting, planning, and problem-solving skills
• Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy and efficiency
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Embraces changes in technology
• Highly motivated, results-oriented, driven
• Trustworthy and confidential
• The successful candidate will have to provide a current Criminal Record Check
